MCA to Offer Synchronized Swimming Fitness Classes

Stapleton has tens and tens of fitness classes, some are trendy and some appear to be around for the long haul. However, there is always room for more, and the MCA recognizes this. “We have been inspired by the Olympics, not just the races and the diving, but also the synchronized swimming,” says MCA President Liza Kampstra. “It looks like a lot of fun, and certainly can keep you in shape.” The classes also encourage teamwork and friendship. “You can only work as hard as your teammates, and you have to work as hard as them to keep up,” says Kampstra. Participants will get to “dance” to the latest songs like “Yeah” by Usher and “Pump Up the Jam” by Technotronic, all while getting in a great workout. “The athletes that synchronize swim at the highest levels are in tremendous shape,” says Kampstra. “We figure we can get people into shape using the same principles.” Participants will work together in several maneuvers all while treading water. Classes will be one and a half hours, and will be in the mornings at the Aviator pool prior to pool opening. Participants must purchase a team bathing suit for the class ($42), and classes are $15/session.
